Formerly incarcerated, 40 year-old Andre provides his 17 year-old mentee Darnel life guidance inside a community centre gym, as part of a "second-chance" program. In a flashback, Andre meets Yasir in a diner, an old friend who sold him out for less jail time, in hopes of reconciliation. Andre informs him of the rehabilitation program of which he is part of, and when Yasir learns that reconciliation is merely one of the steps of the program, tensions rise. Deflecting, he provides the contact information of Jasmine, Andre’s estranged daughter, to fulfill this step of the program. Andre seeks out his daughter, but gets defeated when learning she has a son. Coming back to the present, Andre has a fruitful conversation regarding self worth with Darnel, that instills a bit of hope in the both of them. Ultimately, Andre is inspired to reach out to his daughter one more time.
